Very interesting to see the latest episode of the BBC 1's Apprentice (Weds 9:00pm). Not sure of the calibre of this years candidates, and I suppose there is an argument that anyone really good in business doesn't need help from Lord Sugar, and anyone with an outstanding business idea would be able to get the investment they need.
So who does that leave for Lord Sugar? Second best?

I could see how last year's winner Tom, appealed to Lord Sugar. As an inventor he would always be likely to come up with something that could make money, but to me the interesting thing was that it seems that since he won he has been concentrating on developing products that he had already brought to market, with the aid of the money and power that is synonymous with the name Sugar...Tom's now reaping the benefit as is Lord Sugar of course - so I guess with what I said in my first paragraph, if we knew what the candidates are already doing that is hugely successful, we may all be able to predict the outright winner

Great to see all the water companies prayers answered. Will it rain enough?

How come Cyprus manages with more heat and less rainfall? Something to do with putting investment before profit and just generally planning ahead.

We need a new system. One overall state run body that is able to take a long term view, 25 years or more. Free from the short term share price dictates - we could then invest in new infrastructure and adapt to a changing world. Never forget that there are still places in our world where there is no clean drinking water, and certainly no worries about having enough water to wash two cars and keep the lawn green!
