SAY NO TO TESCO IN BEAUTIFUL BOSTON SPA

I took these pics on my phone on a cloudy day this week, but my lack of photographic skills and the dull weather does not detract from how beautiful Boston Spa is and just how passionate the residents of it are! Tesco plan to open an Express store in place of the Crown Hotel, which is already an horrific black spot for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

Should this store be allowed to open, not only will it cause even worse traffic on the already congested High Street, but it will take away business from the already well established and wonderful businesses that exist now and strive to keep their businesses going.

Costcutter, the main shop in the village make it very well known that they stock a lot of their goods from local farms and small producers, and they have an extensive range of pretty much everything. Costcutter could certainly show Tesco a thing or two about wine, cheeses and speciality sauces, for instance.

There is also the lovely butcher's shop, Firth's, who again stock the most fantastic of meats and veg, the local pharmacy will be hit as will Broughtons Bakery, Londis, another grocery outlet. Our small village is surrounded by plenty of other towns and villages which have supermarkets, in Wetherby (which is less than 2 miles away), there is a large Morrisons, Marks & Spencer, Londis and a Sainbury's - Please, please anyone from Boston Spa or surrounding villages, make your views known if you are against this move by Tesco.

There is a meeting at The Crown Hotel. TESCO will be holding a drop in session at the Crown Hotel next Tuesday 17 April. Tesco representatives will be present from 12 noon until 3pm and 4:30pm until 7pm. Please go along, look at the plans and make your views known.

Also, if you wish to join the forum page, please go onto the Parish Council's Site and make your views known there too- please email the video on to your friends or share on facebook/twitter - thanks Robert & Linda
