The family of Claire Squires said in a statement: "Words cannot explain
what an incredible, inspirational, beautiful and driven person she was. She
was loved by so many and is dearly missed by all of us."
They urged people to continue making donations on her CLAIRE JUST GIVING website, which has received more than £400,000 in donations.
Claire Squires had run the marathon in aid of the Samaritans.
Friends said she was well-known in her home town for her regular fund-raising efforts for a variety of causes. She ran the marathon on 2010 and also raised money with a sponsored bikini car wash with friends.
Her close friend, Nicola Short, joined in the tributes to Claire Squire. The pair climbed Kilimanjaro together and raised £150,000 for the RAF Association. Two amazing and wonderful women and a great loss for Nicola too.
To Claire's family, we are not surprised at all that you knew that your daughter was an incredible, inspirational, beautiful and a driven person, and even in death, she still is.
There are some beautiful and wonderful people in this world, we heard some really bad news tinged with such sadness, yet great news for all those people who need the aid of the Samaritans - it is so sad that it took this awful news to highlight how fantastic a person Claire so obviously was.
