John Lewis Memory Foam Mattress Topper
What a fantastic buy this was - bought one single and one double. It has completely transformed our old bed with one spring in particular sticking out wherever you lay, into almost like a brand new mattress. My Linda has a really bad scar on her back and suffers discomfort all day every day, and this mattress topper has enabled her to get a really good nights' sleep. I highly recommend this topper. It has duck and feather down. It has temperature control, so excellent in the heat or the extreme cold, check it out for yourself.

I would like to say that neither Linda nor myself are affiliated with John Lewis, and as promised said we would give truthful, unbiased reviews of online shopping.
could you give me more information. I bought one from poundstretcher and the covering smells disgusting, so I wont have it on the bed anymore. Does the one you recommend have this? Thanks, Gemma
ReplyDeleteHi Gemma, firstly I took a look (well tried to) at the Poundstretcher site and all it brings up is a page asking me to put in my location to find a store - I know they do have online shopping but their site seems to be down - I tried it first thing this morning and just now, but having looked at a forum about Poundstretcher, the staff there seem to have alot to say about how their working conditions are, or in the case of posts on the forum, the lack of them. However, back to the John Lewis Mattress Topper, I can tell you that have it does have a cover, I had to wash it once and the smell which you speak of is a fire resistant chemical, you should...once you have washed the cover then leave it for about 72 hours and then the smell should go away. It has with the ones I bought from John Lewis. Tell me Gemma, how long have you had it, have you followed the instructions? Does it still smell (if you have had it for a while)? Because it shouldn't and if you have had it a long time, I suggest you take it back, by the way did you buy it online and if so can you let me have the link you used? Hope I have helped in some way and I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Robert
ReplyDeleteThanks Robert, signed up on your f/b page btw. Think you were right about poundstretcher, I have tried them a few times and as you said all that come up is the page looking for nearest store. I dug back through my purchase receipt and I bought it in early December. The link I used was www.poundstretcher.co.uk, same as the one I have used today!! Wierd stuff, Gemma
DeleteThanks for signing up to f/b. Yes, I have tried their site constantly and actually phoned them. They asked me to fill in the part of the home page where it says 'sign up for exclusive offers' which I did, hoping that I would get an email to verify and then be taken to their online shopping site. However, they have not sent me an email, they weren't very nice on the telephone and the site remains the same. If the shops are still open, all I can suggest is that you take it back to your nearest one and complain, they might try the 28 day cooling off period approach but you still do have a receipt, but stand your ground and tell them that it is "not fit for purpose, in that you no one could be expected to sleep on a mattress topper which is giving off such a chemical toxic smell". Sorry I could not help more Gemma, but I will still keep digging, if in the meantime, you manage to get a refund also let me know, and do for heavens sake ask them which Trading Standards does the Mattress meet or where is the local Trading Standards office for that store. Also remember what I said when I first opened this blog I'M TOO POOR TO BUY CHEAP! Regards, Robert.
