JAFLONG TANDOORI RESTAURANT IN WETHERBY, WEST YORKSHIRE

Linda and I went for a meal at Jaflong Restaurant last night and it was gone 10:30 when we arrived as we had been at a meeting which we expected would end much sooner than it did, and to be honest we thought that the Jaflong would be closed, certainly every other restaurant in Wetherby was.  When we opened the door we were greeted by the owner Ali, who when asked whether it was too late for us to eat, put us right at ease and said we open until midnight and even if there is no one in for an hour or so before then, we still stay!  Which was lovely and definitely re-assuring, since most of us take the view that even if a restaurant is open that late at night, the staff don't really want us to be there.

We enjoyed fantastic service, an extraordinary 3 course meal, a beer for me and sparkling water for Linda, there was so much, we had to bring a "doggie bag" home.  I was given a complimentary glass of Baileys and Linda received a couple of chocolates (which she promptly put in her bag for any later sugar rushes lol).

There was no rush for us to leave although it was now midnight and Ali, the owner explained to us that it was a family run business, he had been running that restaurant for 19 years, his son who is 18 cooked our superb meal.  Linda has been in the Jaflong so many times over the years and told me that even when it is packed to the rafters the quality of the food and level of service remain absolutely second to none, even though Linda hadn't been in there for over a year, Ali remembered her and her name too!  I was more than impressed.  I can't praise this restaurant highly enough, and if anyone is passing Wetherby and loves Indian cuisine, I recommend they call in, they are open 7 days a week, the restaurant is very beautifully laid out with Indian seats, yet a cosmopolitan style, spotlessly clean, a wonderful bar and exceptional staff, especially Ali.  A 10 out of 10 for both Linda and myself, and they even do takeaways too!
